About

Rio Palme is a painter based in the Indian Ocean. He focuses more on the installation of materials than on painting, concentrating his pictorial approach on the conditions of paint's use rather than on the creation of images. Beauty, cleanliness, and decoration do not interest him. He creates works that resemble fields of tension.
Rio Palme proceeds by regimes of constraints, which he organizes into series.
When he isn't painting, and therefore not in front of a canvas, performing, or designing installations capable of painting in his place, he ponders the meaning of being, or not being, somewhere. It is to try to answer this question that he recently decided to conduct research on the concept of place through photography. For practical reasons, AQ gallery is presenting only a limited, but sufficient, selection of his work to offer a different perspective on the presence of color.
